The farm has an uneven contour, with some areas higher and some lower. The higher areas are not well watered, especially during the dry season. For watering purposes, water must be collected from the pond in the lower area.

Using a water pump is one way to get water from the low area to the high area, but electricity is needed to use a water pump. But I am interested in a water pump without electricity, called a hydram pump or ram pump.

 

This hydram pump or ram pump utilizes the earth's gravity, more precisely the power of the flow of water flowing from top to bottom (kinetic energy). This water flow has power or pressure that is used to move the valve of the hydram pump or ram pump.

Based on the utilization of the height of the waterfall as the driving source, this pump has two types, namely linear and non-linear pumps. Linear hydram pumps are usually used in low drops (less than 1 meter), while non-linear pumps are used in high drops (more than 1 meter).

in this video is a linear pump, because the water drop is only about 30-50 cm. it can raise water to a height of 3 meters, because the input pipe is only about 5 meters.

There is something interesting about this hydram pump or ram pump, which is that the sound it produces, both the sound of water and the sound of the pump, produces a regular rhythm, like natural music from nature. Some manufacturers even add a whistle to their hydram pumps, which is used to repel pests and as a sign that the pump is running properly.
